The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a non-profit educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and receive the recognition and credit for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders. SWE’s Mission: Stimulates women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders; Expands the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life; and Demonstrates the value of diversity. The Central Indiana Section has become very active over the last several years with membership over 90 this past year. The Section meets regularly to allow interaction with other women engineers through professional development seminars and social gatherings. The Section also participates in activities to encourage young women to pursue engineering, math and science studies. Through the SWE Central Indiana Section, you not only meet other women engineers in your area but also create opportunities for Central Indiana’s future engineers.
